Early Edition 2013.

Early Edition is a nice little show put on by the guys at Edition38 at the Northampton Rugby ground, in essence it’s the warm up show to their main longstanding event in September . It’s now in it’s 3rd year and seems to be going from strength to strength every year, so would of been rude not to pop down and grab a couple of pic’s.

First up (Pictured above) was something from the older Audi ranks, this awesome Audi 100 with a more than adequate drop to get it sat perfectly.

Mk4 Golf

Then we saw this clean Mk4 with a very colourful interior.

Glenn's Passat

Part of our Belgian crew made there way over too. Glenn (Owner of the Passat) is one of the main guy’s with Levi who are behind the organisation of our “Belgian Chapter” show on August the 18th. Check out our Facebook for more info on the show.

Rotiform'd Polo

EST365′s polo now sat on some BLQ’s.

Mk1 Jetta

Cool Mk1 Jetta.

Mk5.5

We spotted this golf, which we assumed was a MK6 but was told via a facebook post its a MK5.5. Doe’s anyone have any more info on this? Was done by TUK custom’s? Looked spot on either way.

Polo

Love small split’s, and this Polo rocks them well.

Lupo

This Lupo looked nice and fresh in white, not sure what make the wheels were. Look to be heavily inspired by the Rotiform LHR though.

Tom Heap's 300CE

Here’s one of, if not our favourite car at the moment. Tom Heap’s awesome Mercedes 300CE running Impul R5′s and air ride. Keep checking back for more from us on this awesome car. ;-)

S3

Phil’s S3 now on Air.

French Mk2

We like facemounted BBS here at RollHard, and mk2′s. :)

So we had a meet.

Better late then never :)

Back in September we decided to hold a small meet the evening before the all important Players show. With cars coming into the uk from all directions and due to the small space we had keep this event invite only, inviting our close friends and friends from afar. Expecting only half the invited to roll up we were far from being wrong with the small area packed with some of europe’s hottest metal kissing badges with its neighbour.

Heres just a few snaps taken from the evening. Keep your eyes peeled for this years event as we have a much bigger premisses to play with.

Massive thanks to the lomotion boys for coming down. Love this EK!

Elsecar Megameet 2013.

Elsecar Megameet is held at the Heritage centre in Barnsley off Junction 36 of the M1. For me (Tony) this is one of very few local show’s for me, so it would’ve been rude not to pop down and see what was happening. This year is the 15th year the Elsecar Megameet has been held, and it only seems to be going from strength to strength each year. I’ve been for the past 3 years, and it’s always been a nice chilled out show with a good atmosphere.

As i no longer own a VAG car i had no need to be up at daft o’clock to make it in the show area. So i rolled up at a respectable time of 12pm to start my little wander around the heritage centre. The show is by no mean’s a ”big” show, but that’s part of it’s charm, it has a real nice chilled out feel about it.

I started in the indoor area of the show, where i saw Jason Allen’s awesome A3 running many many trick touches, like 2 iPad’s on his install, perfectly fitted Rotiforms and a flawless paint job by the guys over at Reflex Auto Design.

Jason’s amazing interior.

Word’s and photo’s : Tony.

More than the sum of it’s parts.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you’ve probably seen pictures of this Laser Red Audi floating about on picture threads and Facebook pages. This car caused quite a stir in Wörthersee this year.

We first spotted Damian “Rayan” Stefanowski’s B5 on the pavement in Reifnitz, Wörthersee. Laying frame, proudly soaking up the Austrian sunshine drawing in scores of people trying to take a closer look. Among a sea of shiny RS’ (which don’t get us wrong, we LOVE), Rayan’s car stood out to us as something a little different.

As luck would have it, whilst we were stood beside the B5, Rayan and his mates came back to the car and after a quick chat we arranged to catch up with Rayan later that evening for some shots and a proper chat about his 1000km trip from Poland, his car… and the story behind those wheels.

We arrived at his hotel to find 20+ Polish guys in fold-up chairs having a BBQ on by the roadside - anyone who’s been to Wörthersee will know this is perfectly normal behaviour. We shared a beer with the lads, compared Wörthersee notes and got more details on Rayan’s car. These boys had driven over 1000km from Poland so between us, we’d travelled most of Europe to be here.

The car itself is a 1.9 TDI Quattro with upgrade Recaro leathers, naturally, this thing is on air and the simple 2 way ViAir setup lets the car sink itself into the tarmac nicely. Rayan’s B5 looks just as good parked as it does on the roll. This might be on air but trust me, Rayan drives this thing low.

Rayan never sticks with a set of wheels for long. He’s owned the car 18 months and been through several sets, everything from 18” BBS RS to 19” Cargraphic’s and now the wheels you see here.

The fitment is what can only be described as ‘90’s touring car’ and god does it nail it. The unfussy lines of the B5 are so well suited to a large dose of lows and motorsport wheels.

For those of you not familiar with your 1990’s supercars, these wheels used to live on a Bugatti EB110. Here’s a short history lesson for you all… during the early 90’s, speed was everything. The EB110 was crowned ‘fastest production car’ at the time (taking the Jaguar XJ220’s title) but the dust hadn’t even settled before McLaren released the (even faster) legendry F1 and that was game over for the overpriced Italian. Bugatti soon went bust having built only 150 EB110′s. These are rare beasts.

So back to the wheels, being the wild 90’s creation that the EB110 was, it had BBS 18×9 fronts and 18×12 rears in 2 piece centrelock fitment (BBS RT73’s for all you wheel geeks out there). The 12” wide rears were always going to be a struggle to fit under the Audi’s arches so what he really needed was 4 18×9 fronts. No problem – This guy had ‘several sets’ of brand new Bugatti wheels to pick from… some people have all the luck finding the rare stuff!?

The ET38 centrelock BBS’ were always going to need some fettling to get on the B5, centrelock adapters would have given too much poke so the decision was made to drill these to the Audi’s PCD. The work on these is faultless; it’s hard to tell that these didn’t originally come in 5 stud fitment. Needless to say that with some spacing of the rears this thing sits perfect in a way we haven’t seen since the touring car days.

The thing about Rayan’s Audi is how effortlessly it draws the crowds. It doesn’t make a song and dance, it goes ever so calmly about its business and makes a killer impact on Bugatti EB110 wheels.

We love this car.

And here’s a link to a little teaser video that we shot too ;) .

Wörthersee trip part 1.

2012 saw all the UK rollhard chaps taking our Wörthersee cherries. We had everything all booked up since last December and it seemed like it was never going to arrive. But after what seemed like an eternity waiting for May the 9th to come around, it soon did and we were headed off to dover.

We did our usual trick and missed the ferry which was booked up for 4pm, so the 6pm ferry it was instead. We decided to stop of at our Belgian headquarters on the way to break things up a little bit, and we eventually arrived at Levi’s for around 12:30am. Not ideal considering we were up at 4:30 to set off to Austria (And the fact we didn’t get to sleep till about 2:30am). Anyway, by 5am we were all up and on our way to Austria…

After about 3minutes of driving this happened to Elmo. Only another 10hours+ to go for the rest of us :)

With Elmo soundly asleep we got on with the drive down through Germany on the Autobahn’s :D Turn’s out Germany has quite a few cool buildings dotted along the Autobahn’s and the KPMG building was one of them.

After getting all arty farty and checking out the German architecture we soon started to see some real sights, the Austrian Mountains!

It’s safe to say driving through Austria has been the best driving experience we’ve had so far, with a backdrop like that (And i only got better) what more could you want.

So after 11 or so hours of driving from Levi’s house in Belgium we arrived at our hotel in Velden, Austria. Where we also had amazing views to wake up to every morning. Can you tell we like Austria quite a lot yet? :)

Once we’d had a freshen up, which was long needed after 11hours plus driving we headed out for some food and then onto the Shell station. But we didn’t think to take our camera’s with us (Because were stupid) so thats where we end up picture wise on day one!

Day two.

If you have never been to Wörthersee before and don’t really know how it works, people basically gather everywhere around the lake in the local towns and villages. One of these places is called Faaker See, which always draws big crowds and also hosted the Low Familia meet on Thursday (Which we missed :( ). Anyway, here are some pics from Faaker See.

At Faaker See we saw very clean car’s like the Passat CC above, and the Mk5 below.

Then we came across this very interesting mk1. We say interesting because that’s exactly what it is, sand covered engine bay, wheels and other small details. Then bit’s of cloth dotted around the car, and to finish it all of a wooden roll cage and bambo door cards for the suicide doors. All in all it was one of the most unique use of materials on a car we’ve ever seen.

Then it was back to normality, kind of. If a mk5 sat static on 20″ Vossen Wheels counts as normal to you? Either way this thing looked the nut’s. To get it sat static like it is on 20′s and still be able to drive it is a job well done sir.

Well that concludes Part 1 of our Wörthersee coverage, check out a few more pics in the gallery below and stay tuned for part with plenty more pictures for your viewing pleasure. :)

P.S. Also keep a look out for a feature we did while we were out there on a certain B5 with some very special wheels. :D

Early Edition.

Now we’ve gotten our blog back online we can finally start to bring you show coverage from all the one’s we attend.

And as you may of guessed from the title of this post, we attended today’s Early Edition show down in Northampton, and if you weren’t following our live instagram feed for a few snaps earlier, then enjoy all them and more here.

Well after looking at the weather forecast and seeing we were set for a gloomy and wet day, we weren’t best pleased at all. But when we arrived at the show ground the sun was out and he had his hat on which was a very nice surprise for us all. :)

So with it been nice and sunny we went for a wander to check out some of the UK’s finest offerings. The level of car’s was pretty high as expected with any dub show, and it was nice to have a good snoop around some of the one’s pictured below. One of our favourites of the show has to be Hulk’s Caddy van sat on a custom set of Rotiform’s. The level of finish on this van is amazing, and the colour and wheels really work well together. We all wished we could have this for our daily work van’s, but instead we have to stick to our boring standard transit’s. :(

I’ll stop with the jibber jabber now and let you all have a look through our photo’s and enjoy them for yourself. :)

That concludes our Early Edition coverage.

But make sure you keep checking the blog as the next show for us is Worthersee in Austria, and we will be blogging and updating our facebook and instagram throughout the time we are their. :)
