Mk5 with history.

Published on May 20, 2012 by in Feature's

Here we have Nay Park’s super clean black on black mk5 Golf. We met up with Nay when we were down in Telford for this year’s Ultimate Dub’s show. We were chilling out on the Squared Wheels stand and Nay was parked just across from us. He popped over to have a chat and we had a peek round his car and decided we’d like to do a little feature.

What you see here is a long way from what this car used to be, this car has a little history under it’s belt. Some of the more eagle eyed readers may remember this car from the cover of Fast Car a few years back, when it was in the hands of Carl Taylor with the cream bentley’s, grill and extended bonnet. After that feature in Fast Car, it was then sold on to someone else where it was involved in an accident and needed quite abit of work to get it back road worthy. One of Nay’s friends bought the golf in need of the repairing, did the required work to get it back on the road and that was where Nay picked it up.

When he bought the golf it was road worthy, but needed quite a lot of love to get it looking like it does now. It was on coils, had the interior it still has now but the bodywork was very tatty and needed sorting to get it show worthy again.

Nay wanted to get the Mk5 as low as possible and the coilovers weren’t up to the job for him, and he decided air was the way to go. And instead of paying many thousands to a company to fit an install for him, he decided to give it a go with his friend, neither of them with any experience but got stuck in anyway. And when you look in the boot at the setup you would think it wasn’t a “on the driveway” kind of jobs. Hats off chaps.

Nay also needed some girth in his life, so a set of RH ZW1′s in 18×8.5J front, and 18x10J rear were fitted to get the stance nailed. He doesn’t know the offset’s on the wheels, but as they sit so perfect he’s not that fussed about them.

Interior wise Nay thought when this much has been done to it, what do you change without doing it all again. And with this not being a long term car he thought other than the air install he would leave things as they were. We don’t blame him on that one.

We’ll leave you to have a look through the rest of the pictures, and in the coming weeks expect to see lot’s of Wörthersee coverage up on here. :)

Home brew build.

Published on May 1, 2012 by in Builds

We love a home build here at Rollhard, which is what we have here.

I noticed Adam’s first build a year or two back. It was a light blue Clio with cup bumpers, slightly lowered on team dynamics. It always stood out from the boring grey/black standard brigade you tend to see. My local area isnt known for its low/stanced cars so when the mx5 caught my eye one evening, I knew we had to find the owner and luckily for us it was Adam.

The car as you see it has been built by Adam himself on his driveway. A true talent as Adam has taught himself how to work on cars, by spending hours on forums researching, picking the right parts andfinding out the info on how to do things, and not sitting on Facebook asking randomer’s how to build his car for him. Which is seen way too often nowadays.

Some people would be happy with the resulting car we shot, But this is only the start for Adam. As most of us head off to Worthersee in Austria next week, Adam’s MX5 will be cruising upto japfest with its fresh new look, so keep your eyes peel’d. This is only the start of the journey for the mx5, And with Adam’s plans we cant wait to see it taken to the next level.

Also, it’s not often we enlist new members here at RollHard, but we welcome Adam and his mx5 into the Rollhard clan and look forward to seeing the mx5 progress. Stay tuned. :)

Early Edition.

Published on April 22, 2012 by in Shows

Now we’ve gotten our blog back online we can finally start to bring you show coverage from all the one’s we attend.

And as you may of guessed from the title of this post, we attended today’s Early Edition show down in Northampton, and if you weren’t following our live instagram feed for a few snaps earlier, then enjoy all them and more here.

Well after looking at the weather forecast and seeing we were set for a gloomy and wet day, we weren’t best pleased at all. But when we arrived at the show ground the sun was out and he had his hat on which was a very nice surprise for us all. :)

So with it been nice and sunny we went for a wander to check out some of the UK’s finest offerings. The level of car’s was pretty high as expected with any dub show, and it was nice to have a good snoop around some of the one’s pictured below. One of our favourites of the show has to be Hulk’s Caddy van sat on a custom set of Rotiform’s. The level of finish on this van is amazing, and the colour and wheels really work well together. We all wished we could have this for our daily work van’s, but instead we have to stick to our boring standard transit’s. :(

I’ll stop with the jibber jabber now and let you all have a look through our photo’s and enjoy them for yourself. :)

That concludes our Early Edition coverage.

But make sure you keep checking the blog as the next show for us is Worthersee in Austria, and we will be blogging and updating our facebook and instagram throughout the time we are their. :)

It’s been a while…

Published on November 25, 2011 by in Uncategorized

…since we last made a blog post. Also it was a fair old time when Ron’s emkaytwo was off the road after it spat it’s guts all over the motorway.

So we thought it would make for a nice comeback post with picture’s of Ron’s re-worked motor, and car to boot. All good things come to those who wait right?

The first change that you’ll notice as you walk up to the car are the lovely new red shoe’s it’s wearing. Which are a fairly uncommon (Fitment and width etc) set of comp’s which used to sit under the arches of Pea’s mk3 cab.

Yeh it’s static too. There’s been a hell of a lot of work put into this car to get it sitting like this and to be drivable too.

The man himself paying his biggest challenge some attention.

Which is what we show you now. While the engine was out getting re-built Ron thought he may aswell pay the engine bay some love, which added to the lengthy build. But we think the end product was well worth waiting for, all though he’s not quite happy with it and still has some tricks up his sleeve to make this complete.

So the emkaytwo returns to RollHard and we’re bloody happy about that. Well done Ron. :D

VW Festival 2011.

Published on August 15, 2011 by in Uncategorized

I (Tony) went to the VW festival at Harewood house in Leeds yesterday for my first time. We set of quite late, and it started to rain, so it looked like we were set for a nice normal northern day out. But luckily for us it passed pretty quick, and when we arrived at the show it was nice and sunny. :)

We arrived at about 3pm and thought it would of quietened down, but the show was still really busy and showed no signs of getting quiet any time soon.

As we were walking through the carpark the amount of high quality car’s was crazy already, like this amazing Mk5 sat in the weeds.

Then we got into the show and their was more mk5 goodness (Got a thing for Mk5′s at the mo) to be enjoyed.

Then I stumbled across the best kid’s toy ever. Wish when i was a wee wipper snapper that my dad made/bought me one of these. Pure awesome.

Then you had all the usual motor’s you’d expect to see at a VW show, like these super clean Mk1′s.

Clean Mk2

Jimmy’s family wagon Mk3 looking spot on with the TT comps.

Subtle Mk4 sat on Breyton’s.

And there was a nice selection of older VeeDub’s too. Like this spotless Beetle.

Then we had some ratted bus’ which looked the nuts.

There’s some more pictures up on my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42503655@N05/sets/72157627313762215/

Cheers. :)

Matching Bora’s much?

I’ve been a while perched in the drivers seat of a Vectra GSI staying mainly standard, well I’m getting back to the slammed and wide scene so thought I would do a blog post to mark my return, 2 of my mates have been building some pretty impressive bora’s and are now running matching wheels…. almost. One on genuine porsche wheels 10″ rears 9″ fronts and the other on reps.

DC11

Published on June 20, 2011 by in Uncategorized

A few of us made the trip down (and up) to this years DC11 show held at Turweston Aerodrome. After setting off early sunday morning in the rain, i wasn’t expecting to have the best day. (Also had to replace a coilpack on saturday afternoon. Managed to get a new one just before the shop closed :) ) Anyway, the further south we went the weather started to pick up (SHOCK!) slightly. Although it wasn’t much, as it was pretty cloudy all day long. But dry! Right less of my ramblings and onto the show.

It was my 1st time at a DC show this year, and 1st impressions were good. I liked the location of the show with planes dotted about on site, then there was a large pond in the middle too. Made for nice backdrop, which i didn’t really capitalise on at all with the photo’s. Ooops.

I didn’t really take that many photo’s either, so here’s the best of what i did. Enjoy.
